We are passionate about creating cheeses using traditional methods in a sustainable manner, we don’t use any machinery in the production of our cheeses; all cheese is made, turned and washed by the hands of our dedicated team, led by head cheese maker Stephen Russell.

A clean, mild, buttery, white mould cheese that develops a soft luscious texture and rich milkiness as it ripens.

Milawa Camembert cheese

Milawa Camembert

Made in the Normandy style from local Whorouly milk, this cheese develops very strong earthy characteristics as it matures. Presenting a white bloomy rind with a thick buttery interior that develops into a creamy butterscotch texture as it matures. Think milky, slightly sweet and a little bit nutty, perfect on a crunchy baguette!

Milawa King River Gold Cheese

King River Gold

The King River Gold is a great introduction to the washed rind style. It’s one of the first cheeses we made and is still the most popular among our customers today. The cheese itself has a soft interior with a slightly gritty rind and a rich, almost smokey, nutty flavour.

Milawa White cheese

Milawa White

Milawa White began it’s life as a happy accident – essentially a Gorgonzola that did not develops veins. Exhibiting sweeter notes than our blue, this (typically) six-month aged frankencheese is creamy and almost spreadable at room temperature. When heated it unleashes denser more savoury flavours and absolutely shines in a cheese toastie or as a melted cheese sauce. 

Our easiest cheese to make but hardest to perfect, much like a bottle-fermented champagne – with which our White shares yeasty notes and pairs deliciously!

Milawa Blue cheese

Milawa Blue

Inspired by Gorgonzola Dolce, this is the cheese that started it all. A mild, creamy, blue cheese that has a well-balanced, rich, buttery flavour, this cheese has been converting non-blue eaters since 1988.

Milawa Aged Blue cheese

Hand Selected batches of Milawa blue are matured for up to six months to create slightly sweeter, stronger flavours, and a darker coloured interior.

Milawa Club Blue

Stronger batches of Milawa Blue and Milawa Aged Blue are selected, blended and pressed into blocks. The result is a really bitey blue cheese with a dense, creamy texture.

Milawa Markwood cheese

Markwood

A specialty cheese that is made in very small batches and matured for a minimum of 2 years. This maturation process allows the cheese to develop a mild, yet complex, buttery characteristic. It is extremely limited and only available on-site at Milawa Cheese Company.

Milawa David Brown Select Cheddar Cheese

David Brown Select Cheddar

Founder, David Brown, has always enjoyed really aged cheddars, hence this one is named after him. David himself personally selects these cheddars, which we then age in our Milawa maturing rooms.
